in the last 30 hours…
I am this close to getting the last of the servers up, running and fully functional. This has been a 2 months project with a ton of roadblocks, a steep learning curve and a whole lot of frustration. I left work yesterday hopeful that today would be the day. I wasn’t looking forward to going to work but I kinda sorta was.
I mailed out a couple packages on the way home, one to one of the winners of my contest. Got to daycare to pick Alex and he was in a good mood. I sat down and we (Nanette and I) were talking for a bit and Alex came over and I noticed how hot he was. He had been fine 10 minutes before that when I hugged him hello. We took his temp, 102.7. Got some Motrin in him and rechecked it about 10 minutes later. 103.4. So I called the advice nurse from Nanette’s house. I was worried simply because he rarely spikes a fever in that 0-60 in 2 seconds manner without having some kind of symptom. . I end up getting a phone appointment (weird) for 6:40pm.
The doctor on call calls and it turns out it is Alex’s regular Ped (yay!). She and I spoke for a bit, it was decided that I would watch him for other symptoms and get him in if it spiked higher than 104 or no symptoms presented within 3 days. Got him home, sent an email to work that I would not be in today. Got Alex some dinner that he barely ate and he was sound asleep by 7:30. An hour later he was awake and very upset. Rocking in the rocking chair helped a bit. The shivers of chills set in and then the puking. After getting him cleaned up (twice) and getting me cleaned up (twice) we fell asleep.
He woke up this morning in a decent mood, didn’t eat much at breakfast and started fading fast by 10:30. By 11 he was asleep again and slept until 1:30. Lunch was made and largely uneaten. Snacks, juice, water, even cookies all sat untouched. He nibbled at dinner, one of his favorites. He puked again around 6:30, fever is at 99.5 (underarm) so I have no idea what tomorrow holds.
