Yikes!

I had my first “maintenance emergency” tonight.  I was running the bath for Alex when the hot water handle came off.  The plumbing here is old fashioned and there is a knob for hot and a separate one for cold.  The one for hot came off completely and water came shooting out of the wall where it had been.  The drain in the tub drains much slower than the water was coming out, not to mention is was splashing everything!

Thankfully I hadn’t undressed Alex yet.  I let it run while I called the emergency maintenance line.  I went in and out of the bathroom, holding the knob in so the water could drain until they got there.  Whew! Needless to say, after Alex went down, the bathroom got a thorough scrubbing.

We went to a Fall Festival this afternoon with Brian and Tracy and their boys and Alex’s friends. Jump houses, a petting zoo and a playground.  What more can you ask for?  Alex was in the bounce house having fun when he got bounced and literally bounced out.  Thankfully one of the workers caught him by the arm before he hit the ground.  I had been on the side of it watching and couldn’t get there fast enough.  My heart stopped when I saw him tumbling out and I think I froze for a second. We had fun though and came home and napped.  I am really growing to love out Saturday afternoon naps together.

Oh, neat. How did you add the “subscribe to comments via email” function?

I didn’t know that the whole water-shooting-from-where-the-handle-used-to-be happened in real life. I’m glad that maintenance is available. That would have been a bitch to deal with, otherwise (well, more of a bitch).
