Sunday Funday
So the day was good even though it started out with Alex and I fighting over him taking a nap. Alex 1 Mom 0. We got to the park at 12:30ish. The place was packed. We ended up having to park on a side street and hike in. I threw Alex into the Mei Tai and off we went. I am so grateful to the people that gave me the tips on getting him up and on my back. WAY more fun for both he and I. We stood in line and got a balloon animal. The clown was funny, he was an old Shriners’ guy and was cracking silly, corny jokes to the kids.
Off we went in search of bounce houses and ponies. The line was short for the bounce house and long for the ponies. My mom went and got in the pony line while I did the bounce house with Alex. He gets in and just sits. Lazy, little turd let the other kids bounce him instead of wasting the energy bouncing himself! He loved loved loved the ponies. HUGE grins from him. I am hoping my mom caught one on her camera. By then we were getting hungry and I was trying to find Tracy and her family so we could all meet up. Many missed calls from each of us ensued before we finally caught up to them by the food area. Alex and I fought over eating. Alex 2 Mom (still) 0. We just visited and hung out for awhile and had a nice time.
By the time Tracy and her kids had gone through the ponies, Alex was falling asleep on my back. Gee, this is where that nap earlier could have been handy. We ended up taking off instead of riding on the train. They (The city of Citrus Heights) did a great job with all of it. There were tons of activities and vendors there giving out stuff for free. Alex even managed to score a beach ball. We had a great time and I am hoping they do it again next year.
Since he was asleep, I decided to continue my quest for the Halloween costume. When I went to the first Target yesterday, they told me what stores had how many in stock but she said they couldn’t see what sizes they were. Since the costume was a small, I figured logic would have it that there would be a medium and large of that same style. Yesterday I went to 2 Targets and a ToysRUS. So off we set for the nearest of the farther Targets. I put Alex in the Mei Tai through the store and he slept the whole trip. Still no size medium puppy costume. Came home and started searching… well, I can’t find one because they don’t make them! Target 1 Mom 0. The one I have is just too short for him… he fits in it but there is NO room for him to grow and given that Halloween is over a month away, I am sure he will grow at least a little.
I have found a lot of costumes out there that are cute but none that cute for that price. Oh sure, I found a cuter puppy costume if I am willing to shell out $60 for it. Which I’m not, not at this age. Maybe if in a few years he has his heart set on one, I can justify but I fully admit this year is about what I want him to look like. So I am still in search of a decent costume that is reasonably priced. I looked at Old Navy and I don’t like ‘em… I think I saw a dragon at either Target or Toysrus and just need to go back and get it.
I was talking to a friend about investment opportunities last week and he mentioned real estate, specifically Tampa real estate. I’m not anywhere close to being able to invest in anything like that but the idea is interesting.
