Swimming and I don’t mix
It was so warm again today. Its been nearly a week of 100+ so I decided to take Alex to the resident pool for our housing complex. Remember, in my infinite wisdom, I dismantled our aboveground pool on Tuesday last week. Ah yes, I was feeling so productive that day. So off we trot to the pool. It really is a nice one. It has the beach type entrance where it slopes from 6 inches gradually to 4 feet. Alex loved the water today. We played for a good hour or so in the water. Towards the end I took him back to the entrance and let him play in the water while I watched. All in all, a good afternoon. Until we got out of the pool.
I realized then that my keys had been in the pocket of my shorts the entire time. The keys with my car alarm remote on them. Ah yes. More of my wisdom coming through. So I get to the car, figure, well, I get in and turn it on and then use the valet switch to disarm the remote. Except there is no valet switch. So there I am. In front of the community office with my toddler. Sopping wet, my alarm going off and no way to disarm.
The office was closed of course. I asked another family if they happened to have a screwdriver. I was thinking well, I can get the remote open, dry it off and then disarm the alarm. They didn’t but they were sweet enough to give Alex and I a ride home. Upon returning home, I went to get my spare remote. Except its not here. I left my keys with a friend that worked on it last. And never got them back. I took the wet remote apart. It wasn’t hard to see the problem. The battery was leaking something all over the chip. I got that cleaned up but who has a spare 12v 23A battery lying around?
I ended up calling my mom. We went to the store, got a new battery for my remote. And all ends well I suppose.
So you ask, well shoot, one time of something getting wet and you figure you don’t mix with swimming?
A couple month ago, after taking Alex swimming, I dumped all the clothes in the washer. Only to later discover my cell phone was in my pocket. Said pocket was in the middle of the rinse cycle. Needless to say, Alex ended up with a cell phone after that.

Aw god that is terrible. I would be in tears with a day like that. Once my key remopte wouldnt work (wasnt eet it was just the battery) and I couldn’t even open my car, for some reason the key wouldnt work on its own. Still it sounds like you had fun before all the drama.
It was a lot of fun… just so frustrating that I did something SO stupid!
*remote wouldnt work (wasnt Wet..*
LOL - Good to know I’m not the only one who does this kind of thing.
Such a shame to end a perfectly nice day swimming like that! :p
