FickleFood contest

Jeaux at FickleFood is currently running a contest.

Have you ever felt disillusioned? Maybe you are unhappy about your job or your town, or politics or just the world in general. Or maybe you are unhappy about something relatively small, like some neighbor who is letting his dog bark all night, or some jerk who ripped you off. It may be just a pet peeve, something that simply annoys you. It really doesn’t matter.

The prize is too adorable to not enter. I’d love to get him for Alex but I think I might claim him as mine until he is “old enough” to appreciate him. :)

I think lately I have become disillusioned with the lack of humanity I have seen. One of the biggest things that tears my heart is that there have been so many articles lately of people leaving dogs and kids in cars, only to have them found dead hours or days later. I don’t understand it. My son is my life. With the exception of a few places, where I go, he goes. And when he is not with me, I am thinking of him. Before I had my son, in the winter time, Freedom ran tons of errands with me. Now its just too hard to juggle the kid, the dog and the errands at once. (Not to mention he is getting older and its getting harder for him to get in the car.) But never, ever, have I forgotten they were with me. And when I get home… well, how could you miss that they are not there?

I cannot imagine the deaths these children and pets have experienced. The panic, fear, pain as their temps rise so high and they eventually pass out and then die. I think the one that stunned me the most was the police office in AZ that left his canine partner in the car. He left him there for 12 hours. 12! That is a long time to not realize that Hey, where is my partner?

Animals and babies… they are all helpless and rely on us to care for them and protect them. If we don’t… who will?
