Man, does my kid have a temper.

We're talking a tantrum over the smallest things. All. the. time. Nanette put him on a time out for it today. I'm not sure I agree with that. My take on it is this.

He is throwing a fit to express anger, frustration or hurt feelings. He is expressing his feelings. Granted it is not in a pleasant way, nor an acceptable way but he is communicating. I don't want to shut that down. I do though want to start teaching him that expressing emotions is fine, good and healthy. Expressing them like THAT is not ok. Its not ok to subject everyone to your fit. Go in your room and be mad. Kick, scream and jump up and down all you want in there. Don't though, come yell at me.

He is obviously too young to explain this rationally to. Its not a need that is not being met. Its a want, or its anger. He wants to stay outside longer. He wants to go in the neighbor's yard. He wants to not take a bath. He is angry Freedom actually ate the cookie he handed him. He is angry that I am doing the dishes. Things like that.

I'll be glad if when ever he starts talking and can actually tell me what he wants.
